Burglary: 300 block of Georgian Road. A woman arrived at her home at about 3 p.m. and disarmed the house security system. She heard rustling in the study and thought it was her husband, She called out, but he didn’t reply. She walked to the study, where she saw a white male of medium build, approximately 25 to 35 years old, who turned quickly and scurried down the hall and out of view. She then heard glass shattering, so ran out the front door and called the CV Sheriff’s Station. The suspect is believed to have opened closets, a dresser and cabinets, including a medicine cabinet. The victim said it did not appear that anything was missing. One window and one sliding-glass door were damaged during the break-in. The investigating deputy said he believed the suspect had attempted to enter via a bedroom window but discovered it wouldn’t open, so shattered the sliding glass door to gain entry. The shattering noise the woman heard, he surmised, came when the suspect exited through the slider, causing more glass to fall.

Identity theft, ex-felon in possession of ammunition, parole violation: Angeles Crest Highway at Fairview Drive. A sheriff’s deputy driving eastbound on Vista Del Valle Road at 4 a.m. that day noticed that the 2004 Cadillac CTS that was driving directly in front of him did not come to a complete stop at the stop sign before turning southbound onto Haskell Street. He conducted a traffic stop on Angeles Crest at Fairview. The car had two female occupants. The driver said she did not have her driver’s license with her. When asked if it was suspended, she admitted it was, due to unpaid traffic tickets. When the women were asked if either was on parole, the passenger said she was on parole for carjacking. Both were asked to step out of the car so a parole compliance search could be conducted. A female deputy was called to the scene to assist. One unspent round of .22 ammunition was found on the floor where the passenger had been seated. The assisting deputy found in the passenger’s pocket a piece of paper with a list of 10 MasterCard and Visa numbers, along with people’s names, email addresses, physical addresses and phone numbers. The suspect said she had no idea how that piece of paper got into her pocket, nor where it came from. She and the car’s driver both denied knowing ammunition was in the car. The driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license but released in the field. The passenger, 52-year-old Los Angeles resident Susan Castanos, was taken into custody and booked at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

She walked through the house and saw a couple of doors open, one to the outside and the other to the garage. She also noticed a towel and blanket had apparently been thrown on the floor of her housekeeper’s room, leading the victim to believe the home had been burgled. The investigating deputies determined entry had been made through a bathroom window.
