On the Scouting Trail: LCHS’s Haxton earns Eagle rank

Share

Grant Haxton, 17, a junior at La Cañada High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 509 at JPL for the past six years, has earned the Eagle Scout rank. He will receive the award at a ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, June 13 in Von Karman Auditorium. The public is invited.

For his Eagle leadership service project, Haxton built retaining walls on a slope on the Lutheran Church in the Foothill campus. He installed drip irrigation on an automatic timer, and amended the soil with compost. He organized four work days and directed the work of 22 others, totaling 454 hours of labor. The walls were built with stackable blocks donated by Angelus Block Co. and a concrete base donated by AMH Recycling.

At LCHS, Haxton is on the varsity water polo and swim teams and played freshman baseball.
