Occupy L.A. makes a brief stand in La Cañada Flintridge

Occupy L.A. came to La Cañada Flintridge to protest home foreclosures on Friday, but didn’t stay for long.

About 60 Occupy L.A.-affiliated protestersin two buses came to Commonwealth Avenue, just south of Berkshire Avenue, around 2:50 p.m. on Friday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Angela Shepherd of the Crescenta Valley Station.

Shepherd said the focus of the protest was the home of a Deutsche Bank executive, and that the protesters brougt signs criticizing the role of banks in foreclosing on properties in the wake of the real estate market meltdown.

Crescenta Valley and Altadena sheriff’s deputies were called to contain the protest.

Shortly after the protesters arrived, the majority got back on the bus and departed, leaving behind two occupiers. They stayed for a short amount of time and then left on their own, said Shepherd. No arrests were made.

“We had a lot of units there, we were ready for anything to happen,” she said. “It didn’t pan out to be anything.”
