Share

Three $1,000 scholarships are being offered to students who live in La Cañada Flintridge by a local philanthropic group.

The Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals of Assistance League of Flintridge, known as CAP, is sponsoring the program, specifically geared to students who will be attending a two-year college or occupational program next fall. Applicants must have maintained a grade-point average of 2.5 or better in high school. Each recipient will be selected with consideration given to career goals, achievements, community service and/or school involvement and character.

Applications can be downloaded from www.alflintridge.org or a sample is available from counselors and/or scholarship staff at La Cañada High School, Crescenta Valley High School, St. Francis High School, Hillside Learning Center, Renaissance Academy, Village Christian School, Glendale Community College and Pasadena City College, or from Assistance League of Flintridge, 4607 Oakwood Ave., La Cañada, after April 1. Applications must be returned to Assistance League of Flintridge office no later than Friday, May 3, along with a one-page personal essay, verification of grades, resume and two sealed letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications will be reviewed in May, and awards will be presented at school ceremonies in June. The selected candidates and family will be invited to attend the June CAP meeting to be introduced to the organization’s membership.
