The lion’s lost roar?

Share

Joe Puglia fears the U.S. lion has lost its roar rather than the trepidation felt by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, who allegedly said he regretted awakening a sleeping giant and filling him with a terrible resolve (“Seeking clarity in complex times,” Thoughts from Dr. Joe, Sept. 30). Although the admiral had lived in pre-war America and knew our industrial capacity, the famous “sleeping” quote likely was made up by the screen writer of the 1970 movie “Tora Tora Tora.”

I’m also not sure that the lesson of the attacks on U.S. facilities is that such behavior is risk-free. Let’s see how many of the leaders of the attack on Benghazi have evaded the Predator drones in a year before we conclude the demise of American will power.
