Young women from the Pasadena area who meet the requirements can now apply online to be a member of the 2014-2015 Tournament of Roses Royal Court.

To be eligible, applicants must be unmarried females with no children who either live in the Pasadena Area Community College District, or are enrolled as a senior in high school or a full-time student in an accredited school or college in the Pasadena Area Community College District, according to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, the volunteer organization that hosts the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game.

Applicants must also be at least 17 years old by Dec. 31, 2014 and not more than 21 years old before Jan. 5, 2015, and must have at least a 2.0 cumulative, non-weighted grade point average, according to a Tournament of Roses press release.

After completing an official application, individuals must take part in one of the initial interview sessions on Sept. 13 or 15.

After the initial interview, 250 young women will be selected for a second round of interviews, and 75 women for a third round.

On Oct. 2, about 25 of the candidates will be announced as finalists. The seven-member Royal Court will be announced on Oct. 6.

The announcement and coronation of the 97th Rose Queen will take place on Oct. 23, hosted by KTLA’s Rose Parade host and television personality Stephanie Edwards.

All tryout participants receive two tickets to the Royal Ball, a semi-formal dance hosted by the Tournament of Roses at the Pasadena Convention Center on Sept. 26, according to the organization.
