City seeks public’s input on Town Center traffic improvements

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council is asking the public to weigh in on findings of a recent traffic study on potential improvements to the city’s Town Center at its upcoming meeting on Monday.

The city’s Public Works and Traffic Commission has made a partial list of short-term measures that could be taken for the improvements along Foothill Boulevard near its intersection with the Angeles Crest Highway — including signal optimization, signage, striping and the creation of additional turn lanes — each with varying price tags that add up to $283,000, according to a city report.

The more costly measures, such as removing part of a median west of Chevy Chase to allow for eastbound turn lanes into businesses, could potentially be added to the city’s list of Capital Projects to be prioritized for future funding, the report states.

Additionally, the commission is asking for public input on longer term measures, such as pedestrian sensitive timing system for signals and additional turn lanes at Angeles Crest Highway.

Once City Council members have heard from residents, they will be able to provide staff direction moving forward.
