Crescenta Valley Explorers score well in police competition

Explorers at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station earned top honors on Saturday at the 2013 X Games.

The competition, hosted by the Boy Scouts’ Learning for Life division, called on young Police Explorers to tackle challenges on burglaries, active shooters, suspicious packages and other public safety incidents.

Crescenta Valley Explorers won first-place awards in the officer ambush, felony traffic stop and burglary now categories. The group has netted 18 trophies in three competitions this year.

Explorers who participated in the event include Jeremiah Seidman, Grigor Kasabyan, Vicken Shahbazian, Richard Grandes, Kevin Lentz, Dillian Williams, Michael Murphy-Dimen, Shannon Snyder, Capt. Christian Herrera and Lt. Thomas Halaszynski.

The group was trained by officers at the sheriff’s station, as well as civilian advisor Steven Cronkhite.
