La Canada basketball sweeps past Blair

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 70, Rio Hondo Prep 39: Robert Cartwright collected 15 points and eight rebounds Monday to spark the host Rebels in a Prep League contest. Kareem Ismail added 16 points and Jedrick Eugenio had 10 for the Rebels (10-5, 3-0 in league).

Cartwright had 20 points and Chadd Cosse added 10 on Saturday to lead the Rebels to a 68-53 home league win against Chadwick.

Harvard-Westlake 55, St. Francis 52: The host Golden Knights fell on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Bryan Polan on Monday in a Mission League contest. St. Francis (10-8, 0-4 in league) got 19 points from Kyle Leufroy and 10 from Noah Willerford.

The Golden Knights also fell to Loyola, 70-33, Friday.

La Cañada 58, Blair 41: Koko Kurdoghlian posted a double-double in La Cañada’s Rio Hondo League win at home Friday night, scoring 11 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. The Spartans (10-7, 2-0 in league) also received 11 points each from Kyle Thomas and Dan Jun, eight points from Mario Del Cueto and eight assists from Ryan Lee.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 69, Blair 30: Courtney Chen had 15 points to pace the Spartans in Friday’s Rio Hondo League victory. She also had six steals, four assists and three rebounds.

Sarah Borland and Keilee Bessho had 11 points each for the Spartans (10-7, 2-0 in league), with Bessho adding six rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Lauren Barsamian had 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Flintridge Prep 75, Rio Hondo Prep 38: The host Rebels got 14 points from Grace Cha on Monday to pick up a Prep League win. Flintridge Prep (11-3, 4-0 in league) got 13 points apiece from Maya Okamoto and Katherine Bogaard.

The Rebels also picked up a 31-21 victory over Webb Friday. Tyler Faulkner had a team-high seven points for Prep, which also had six points each from Okamoto and Bogaard in the game.

BOYS’ SOCCER

St. Francis 1, Harvard-Westlake 0: Brookes Treidler scored with 12 minutes left to lead the host Golden Knights to a Mission League win at Friedman Field. St. Francis improved to 3-6-5, 1-2-1 in league.

La Cañada 3, Blair 1: The Spartans improved to 12-2-1, 2-0 in Rio Hondo League with a two-goal win over Blair at home Friday. Armaan Zare, Austin Gartside and Nick Pereira scored in the victory for La Cañada, which got assists from Armand Bagramyan, Andrew Meeker and Filip Franke.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Louisville 14, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 8: Hannah Walleck and Anna Porter attempted to rally the Tologs back from a 6-1 deficit in Mission League action Tuesday.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy managed to pull within four, 12-8, late before falling at L.A. Pierce College.

Walleck finished with a team-high four goals, while Porter added two for Sacred Heart (7-8, 1-2 in league).

Pasadena Poly 20, Flintridge Prep 1: Prep’s lone goal was scored by Haley Purvis in Friday’s Prep League road loss.
