Sports Roundup: La Canada girls' soccer downs Maranatha

GIRLS' SOCCER

La Cañada 2, Maranatha 0: After a scoreless first half, the Spartans scored in the 58th minute and then secured the contest in the 75th minute via penalty kick in winning Friday afternoon's nonleague match on the road.

With the win, La Cañada improved to 2-3.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Arcadia 57, La Cañada 41: Courtney Chen finished with 15 points and six rebounds Friday for the Spartans (4-4) in a pool-play contest of the Arcadia Tournament. Lauren Barsamian added nine points and nine rebounds for La Cañada, which got six points and five rebounds from Amber Graves.

Two days earlier, Chen contributed nine points and six rebounds for the Spartans in a 52-32 pool-play victory over Sonora in the Arcadia Tournament. Amber Graves finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 68, La Cañada 53: The Spartans fell in a pool-play game of the La Cañada Holiday Classic on Wednesday.

BOYS’ SOCCER

South Pasadena 5, Flintridge Prep 1: Ari Baranian scored the lone goal Thursday for the Rebels (2-4-1) in a nonleague match at the Glendale Sports Complex.
