Of the 14,519 registered voters in La Cañada Flintridge, 2,856 cast ballots in Tuesday's statewide primary election, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar's Office. Of those local votes, 1,328 were mail-in ballots.
La Cañadans gave Gov. Jerry Brown 1,275 votes and Republican challenger Neel Kaskhari 904 votes. For the office of lieutenant governor, locals backed Gavin Newsom with 1,106 votes to Ron Neiring's 896 votes.
In other statewide offices, La Cañada voters preferred Pete Peterson over the next highest vote-getter here, Alex Padilla. For the seat of controller, locals gave 1,090 votes to Ashley Swearengin. The next closest vote for that office here was David Evans, who captured 511 La Cañada votes. John Chiang received the nod here for state treasurer and Kamala Harris was widely supported for attorney general.
Incumbent Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) received the most La Cañada votes on the entire ballot, 1,630. Not faring as well here was Democrat Mike Gatto, the incumbent in the 43rd District of the state Assembly, who received just 1,181 votes while La Cañada resident and Republican Todd Royal captured 1,400 local votes.
La Cañadan Pamala Matsumoto, who was seeking a seat on the Superior Court, received 1,003 votes in her hometown, while Amy Carter, who captured the most votes in that race, had 1,130 here.
