School agents in D.C. to collect award

Share

Principal Christine Castillo and teacher Sue Fuelling were in Washington, D.C. this week to collect the National Blue Ribbon School award on behalf of La Cañada Elementary School.

The school was one of three Los Angeles County schools who received notification of the nationwide honor in late September. Winning schools are awarded a plaque and a National Blue Ribbon School flag to display on campus.

Castillo said at the time she was looking forward to this week’s trip. “I’m really excited to bring home that plaque,” she told a Valley Sun reporter.

Castillo and Fuelling took with them a stuffed version of the school mascot, Leo the Lion and, using the social media site Twitter, tweeted out photos of Leo at various sites in the nation’s capitol. To see the photos, visit twitter.com/leogoestodc.
