Sports roundup: Flintridge Prep water polo puts in solid Segerstrom showing

Flintridge Prep in Segerstrom Tournament: The Rebels, ranked ninth in CIF Southern Section Division IV, were dealt their first loss of the season to open the tournament, but rebounded for a good overall showing, finishing fifth with an 8-5 win over La Habra on Saturday afternoon capping their run.

On Friday, the Rebels (8-1) lost to host Segerstrom, 9-4. Segerstrom is currently ranked third in Division VI and is the division’s reigning champion.

Prep rebounded resoundingly with a 14-3 win over Burroughs later Friday.

In Saturday’s morning action, the Rebels got another lopsided win, besting Laguna Hills, 10-2.

GIRLS’ TENNIS
La Cañada 12, West Ranch 6: The Spartans continued their terrific start to the season with a nonleague victory Friday, propelled by the McKenzie sisters – Allie and Cassie, who each swept, winning half of their team’s sets and remaining undefeated on the year.

The other six sets came from doubles, as La Canada (4-1) got two sets each from every doubles tandem.
