New faces take seats on the City Council

Two longtime members of the La Cañada Flintridge City Council will say their farewells and two new faces be welcomed to the panel when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday in City Hall.

Former mayors Laura Olhasso and Don Voss, who decided not to seek reelection this spring, will be thanked for their years of service. Olhasso was a member of the Planning Commission for eight years prior to 2003 election to the City Council. Voss served as the city treasurer before being appointed to the City Council in 2006 to fill an unexpired term, then was reelected to the seat in subsequent years.

Newcomers to the council this spring are Terry Walker, who most recently held the position of chairman of the Planning Commission and Len Pieroni, who served on the Public Works and Traffic Commission. They and incumbent Mike Davitt were appointed to their seats for the coming four years after the March 3 election was canceled because no other candidates emerged.

Davitt has completed his one-year term as mayor, so Monday night’s meeting will also include the traditional reorganization, with council members electing a new mayor for the coming 12 months. Also serving on the five-member council are Jon Curtis and Dave Spence.

Meetings of the City Council are open to the public. They are held in Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd., on the first and third Mondays of each month.
