Share

The La Cañada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane, will again be the venue when the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn. holds its annual Bingo BBQ on Saturday, April 28, starting with a no-host reception at 6 p.m. Guests must be 18 or older, and reservations must be received by April 23.

Cost to attend is $50 and includes a barbecue meal, one door-prize ticket and one bingo card for eight games. Many prizes have been lined up for the popular event, but more would be welcome.

“While local businesses and individuals have been generous,” said Sue Beatty, co-chair of the event with Corkie MacPherson, “we would be tremendously grateful for more donations.”

Those who would like to make tax-deductible donations of prizes are encouraged to call Beatty at (818) 249-4493 or email her at beattysgarden@aol.com. She will arrange for pick-up.

Proceeds will help fund the construction of the La Cañada float in the 2013 Rose Parade.

Reservations can be made by credit card at www.lcftra.org or by check, payable to LCFTRA and mailed to Denise Greenawalt, P.O. Box 1532, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91012.

Oil painter featured at art meeting

Artist Julie Snyder will give a demonstration of portrait painting when the Glendale Art Assn. meets on April 11. The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at the Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way, Glendale.

Cost to attend is $4. The winner of a raffle will model for Snyder’s portrait. This event is open to the public.

Also this month, works by Glendale Art Assn. members are on exhibit at the La Cañada Flintridge Library, 4545 Oakwood Ave.
