Members of the Los Altos Auxiliary, through a donation, helped transform a lunch room at Hathaway-Sycamore's El Nido campus into a multimedia lounge for the entertainment of the boys, ages 6 to 18, who receive therapeutic residential care at the campus.
The new lounge, called the Cyber Cafe, boasts three new flat-screen television sets, new furniture, flooring, paint, cabinets and granite counters. The boys can check out books and laptops at the adjacent library and take them into the cafe.
“The members of the Los Altos Auxiliary worked tirelessly this past year to raise funds for this new space that will undoubtedly provide the boys at El Nido with a fun, relaxing and meaningful place to spend time,” said Rob Myers, Hathaway-Sycamores' executive vice president of development. “We can't thank the Los Altos Auxiliary enough for their year-round support of the youngsters in our residential-care program. There's no doubt that they truly brighten these boys' lives.”
