Tamar and Jacob Tujian of La Cañada Flintridge have been named the winners of this year’s Golden Apple Award from the La Cañada Unified School District administration, it was announced Feb. 8. The award is one of the Assn. of California School Administrators’ highest honors.

“Because their volunteerism extends from the school site to the district and to the community at large, all of our LCUSD families benefit from their tireless work and numerous contributions,” a news release from Supt. Wendy Sinnette stated.

The Tujians are the parents of three sons, Arsen, Alec and Ari. Tamar Tujian has been an active campus volunteer, serving as PTA president at La Cañada Elementary School and as chairman of the campus’ school site council. She is also on the executive board of the La Cañada High School 7/8 PTA. She’s also a member of the school district’s Communications Committee and of the superintendent’s Budget Advisory Committee.

Jacob Tujian also serves on the Budget Advisory Committee and, like his wife, has served as chairman of the school site council at La Cañada Elementary School. Since 2008 he has worked on the district’s Bond Oversight Committee, serving as chairman since 2009, and is a director of the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation.

The Tujians will be honored Feb. 21 at the regional Golden Apple Awards breakfast at Santa Anita Golf Course.
