A kick-off gathering to launch “50 Moving Forward,” a free program geared for adults 50 and older that will be offered for several weeks this spring, is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA.

Participants are not required to be members of the YMCA to take advantage of the program, which includes a variety of fitness classes, walks, social activities and wellness events.

They will also be allowed to use Y facilities at no charge.

YMCA of the Foothills is one of 25 YMCAs across the nation that is offering the program, sponsored by Pfizer.

There is an online component so people who live out of the area, or who cannot make it to the Y’s classes, can still take advantage of the program via the Internet.

Registration is required at www.ymca.net/50movingforward.

Tuesday night’s gathering will be held in the new Community Café on the Y’s campus, 1930 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge.
