National Charity League sponsors blood drive

A Glendale organization that has several La Cañada Flintridge members is hosting a blood drive at Verdugo Hills Hospital this weekend.

The local chapter of the National Charity League will sponsor an American Red Cross drive on Sunday, July 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“It’s a great way to be a part of the community, and you will see your dentists, hairdressers, teachers, family, friends and neighbors donating beside you,” said Sue Wright, the organization’s co-chair, in a statement.

The organization chooses to sponsor summer drives because it is a period when blood supplies at hospitals are low, according to the National Charity League.

Walk-ins will be welcome, but appointments are suggested. To make an appointment, email Wright at: wrightsue@sbcglobal.net. The hospital is located at 1812 Verdugo Blvd.
