Kiwanis Club to honor clergy of city

Share

The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada (Noon) sets aside one day each year to honor all of the clergy of the city and single out one member of the clergy for special honors. This year the club will honor Father Tony Marti, OFM, Cap., the president of St. Francis High School. The event will take place at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, in Van de Kamp Hall at Descanso Gardens. Former state Assemblyman Anthony Portantino will serve as master of ceremonies.

This year’s honoree has had an unusual career. A father and grandfather and former vice president of Interstate Bank, Father Tony Marti became a Franciscan priest of the Roman Catholic Church after the death of his wife. He is currently the president of the local Catholic high school and has served several leadership roles in the Capuchin Franciscan religious order.

All members of the public are invited to attend and honor the hard-working clergy of the community and may reserve space by contacting Al Restivo at (818) 952-1969 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily.
