Share

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Cañada Flintridge will celebrate the career of former director Ed Stone on Monday, Jan. 25.

Stone served as director of JPL from 1991 to 2001 and is the only person to ever have served as project scientist for the Voyager mission — a position he’s held since 1972.

The private event — which will include video highlights and remarks by Stone and his colleagues — coincides with the 30th anniversary of Voyager 2’s flyby of Uranus on Jan. 24, 1986. JPL will also celebrate Stone’s birthday. He turns 80 on Jan. 23.
