The Verdugo Hills Art Assn. May 7, at 7 p.m. Monthly meeting will feature artist Quinton Bemiller. Bemiller is a painter, educator and a gallery director and currently has his mural, “Hahamongna,” on display at the Armory Center for the Arts, and also has a solo exhibition at the Los Angeles International Airport’s Terminal 1. The meeting is held at the Citibank Community Room, 2350 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose, and is open to the public for a $5 donation.

Mom’s Club of the Foothills — May 13, 10 a.m. Mom’s Club, a support group for stay-at-home mothers will have pediatric dentistry as the topic for this month’s meeting. Visitors and children welcome. Learn about drought-resistant landscapes — May 15, 2 to 4 p.m. La Cañada Valley Beautiful is hosting a dedication of the La Cañada Public Library Demonstration Gardens, 4545 Oakwood Ave., La Cañada Flintridge. The public is invited to tour the gardens and hear about sustainable landscape. California-friendly plants are labeled.

Men’s Cancer Prevention and Treatment Lecture — May 10, 6:30 p.m. The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA and Huntington Hospital jointly host an evening discussion of men’s cancer prevention and treatment with a team of Huntington Hospital oncology physicians. The panel will discuss cancer prevention, screening and treatment. The event will be held at the CC-YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada.
