Nominations open for La Cañadan of the Year award

The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada announced Tuesday the nomination period has opened for its annual La Cañadan of the Year award, and the public is invited to weigh in with their opinion on who in 2018 represented the most outstanding local citizen.

Nomination forms can be found in the offices of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce, 4529 Angeles Crest Highway; the La Cañada Library, 4545 Oakwood Ave. or City Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd. They are also available by emailing Deborah Weirick at Deborah.Weirick@vhh.usc.edu. Completed nomination forms are due by Friday, March 8.

Mike Leininger, a retired administrator with the La Cañada Unified School District was honored last year with the award. Like previous winners, he was recognized for his many volunteer activities within the city.

The winner of this year’s award will be feted at a Kiwanis luncheon on Wednesday, April 24, in Van de Kamp Hall at Descanso Gardens.
