Evan VonDerheide and Katherine “Katie” Martin were married April 24 on a bluff in Malibu, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The Rev. Wayne Walters of Burbank First United Methodist Church performed the pre-sunset ceremony, which was followed by dinner and dancing.

The bride is the daughter of Russ and Florence Martin, and Christopher and Diane Olson; the groom is the son of La Cañada Flintridge residents Jim and Lisa VonDerheide.

The bride appeared in an Oscar de la Renta gown and carried a bouquet of white roses, blue and white hydrangea, cornflowers, freesia and gardenias, accented by lily grass.

Ashley Aldern served as maid of honor; bridesmaids were Irene Guevara and Jaclyn Dare, the bride’s step-sister. The groom’s sister, Kendra Fogg, gave the reading.

Best man was Gene Milner; groomsmen were Mike Boosalis and Chris Fogg, the groom’s brother-in-law. The ring bearer for the double-ring ceremony was the groom’s nephew and godson, Matthew Fogg.

Katie is a 2003 graduate of Moorpark High School who earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Sonoma State University. Evan is a 2003 graduate of La Cañada High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in hospitality and tourism management form Purdue University.

After a honeymoon in Maui, the couple are at home in Chicago, where she works at the Girl and the Goat Restaurant, and he is assistant front desk manager at the Chicago Fairmont at Millennium Park.
