The driver of a 17-foot-tall big rig ignored warnings from construction workers and tried to drive his truck under a temporary pedestrian bridge near Foothill Intermediate School where work was proceeding on the 210 Freeway tunnel project. The bridge, designed to keep students safe from heavy equipment, had a clearance of 14 feet, 6 inches. The 650-foot tunnel, which had been under construction for two years, was reported to be about 90% complete when the non-injury accident took place.
