Civility: Amazing beauty tricks

Share

Part One: Remembering that civility encompasses appearance, behavior, and communication, I would like to share some beauty tips and tricks with you in order to make life easier and to help educate you in successful makeup application. These are ideas I have collected, created and used with my clients through the years:

Eyeliner: Visually lengthens eyelashes, visually enlarges eyes and gives them depth and definition. It is like a frameless picture, compared to a picture with a beautiful frame (eye makeup). Eyebrow powder or eye shadow the color of your hair can be used with an angular brow brush under the lower lashes to create a look of longer lashes.

Eyelash lengthener: Rapid Lash can be purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond for $39.95 with their 20% coupon that can be obtained online when joining their site. Otherwise, the cost is $49.95. Used nightly like an eyeliner, eyelashes can actually be lengthened in about three weeks. To have extra lengthening during and with the Rapid Lash, use L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara. It can make an amazing difference.

Eye shadows: First, use a skin tone shadow (ivory, nude, beige, or tan) over the entire eye area. Evaluate the relationship size to the eyelid and brow bone (under the eyebrow). The larger area requires the deeper shade, and the smaller area requires the lighter shade. By using a shadow that is opposite on the color wheel from your eyes, you can brighten your eyes. For example, if you have green eyes, use a shade of red such as coral; for blue eyes, use peach; and for brown eyes, choose a copper or deep gold that would highlight an inner color of the iris. A nice trick is to use your red blush shade in the crease of your eyes. Your eye colors will pop!

Eye makeup remover: Using olive oil or baby oil on a cotton pad will remove eye makeup.

Eyebrows: Instead of a harsh eye pencil, use an angular brow brush with eyebrow powder, or eye shadow. Choices are taupe, light brown, auburn, brown-black, or charcoal, depending on the color of your hair.

Foundation: For flawless foundation, using a slightly moist cosmetic sponge, put a small amount (the size of a dime) on the forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. Put a small pea-size amount of moisturizer that is warmed on the hands, applied to the caked area of foundation to even the application.
