Kanekos to host hospital fundraiser

The Women’s Council of Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation will host a special fund-raising event, Artistry and Wine Celebrating the Art of Healing, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the home of Sam and Kate Kaneko.

Funds raised will be given to Verdugo Hills Hospital to help support the hospital’s electronic medical record system and purchase new infant warmers for the Beginnings Family Birth Center.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to support Verdugo Hills Hospital. Many of us do not realize that this wonderful little jewel is actually owned by the residents of this community. That means it is ours,” said Suzonne Slaughter, Women’s Council chair. “VHH doesn’t have the backing of a large corporation, major university; nor are we supported by a religious organization. Instead, we rely heavily on the support of our community through events like this one.”
