Local Boy Scout Council plans annual fundraiser

Share

The Verdugo Hills Boy Scout Council is hosting its 37th Annual Big Strike Auction fundraiser on Friday, March 25 at the Castaways Restaurant in Burbank.

The theme for this year’s event is “Scouting Builds Memories.” Los Angeles Times columnist Chris Erskine of La Cañada Flintridge will serve as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. Approximately 300 items will be up for auction as well. The new chairpersons for the local Boy Scout Council, Bob and Dorothy Black, will be introduced as the new troop leaders.

Bob and Dorothy Black were both members of Girl or Boy Scout troops growing up. The couple passed down the tradition to their grandson, who earned an Eagle Scout ranking as a Boy Scout. The Blacks believe the Scout merit badge programs provide boys and girls of all ages with increased physical activity, moral guidance, leadership training and hobby plus career related exposure.

The Verdugo Hills Council offers year-round scouting and training for boys and young men in the areas of La Cañada, Glendale, La Crescent, Montrose, Pasadena, Burbank, Sunland, Tujunga, Eagle Rock, North Hollywood and Los Angeles.

For more information or to place an advanced seating reservation for $100, call the Boy Scout Council offices at (818) 243-6282.
