Float group plans Bingo BBQ

The La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association’s annual Bingo BBQ will be at the La Cañada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane, on Saturday, April 30, starting with a no-host reception at 6 p.m.

The $45 per-person cost (must be 18 or older) includes dinner prepared by Simply Perfect Catering, one door-prize ticket for numerous great prizes, one bingo card for eight games of bingo, and two prizes for the winners of each game. Also, opportunity tickets for approximately 18 prizes will be sold, and silent-auction items will be available for bid. Additional bingo cards are $1 each.

More donations of prizes are being sought, as proceeds will help fund the construction of the La Cañada float in the 2012 Rose Parade.

“While local businesses and individuals have been generous, we would be tremendously grateful for more donations,” said Sue Beatty, co-chair of the event. “Just call me at (818) 249-4493 or email beattysgarden@aol.com and I’ll be happy to arrange for pickup. All donations are fully tax-deductible, and donors will be recognized in the program.”

Co-chairing the event with Beatty is Joan McGee. Joe Thompson will serve as emcee and Jim Geoghegan as bingo-equipment maestro. Callers for the eight bingo games include Michael Davitt, John Landrum, Jean Spomer, Tom Slaughter and Peggy Hotaling.
