Wine Cave hosts area club

The La Crescenta Woman’s Club earlier this month had a wine tasting fundraiser at the Wine Cave in Montrose.

Dawna Berger, chairman of the event, along with her assistant, Cindy Charles, provided the food and beverages.

All money raised will be contributed to one of the many charities the club’s endeavors benefit.

Kiwanians visit the track at Del Mar

La Cañada Kiwanians Club members and friends, a group totaling 34, took a bus on Aug. 13 to the Del Mar Race track, where they had a private patio overlooking the paddock area.

As icing on the cake, the day’s 10th race was named for La Cañada Kiwanis. The club did not provide win/loss records of any bets members might have placed.

Cabrini Literary Guild plans membership tea

Members and guests of the Cabrini Literary Guild will gather from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8 for the group’s annual membership tea.

The gathering, chaired by Ann Herrmann, will be held at the Glendale home of Jan Kubani.

The Cabrini Literary Guild is a philanthropic organization that raises funds to benefit a number of area organizations, including Catholic Charities, Loaves and Fishes Glendale, Glendale YWCA Shelter for Women and others. Departments within the organization offer activities such as bridge and a book club that meet once a month September through May.

Club to participate in 9.10.11 event

Members of the La Cañada Thursday Club’s Community Relations Committee are all set to serve iced tea and cookies to community guests from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, as part of the city’s 9.10.11 celebration.

The clubhouse is located at 4430 Woodleigh Lane, La Cañada Flintridge.
