Two special events for Thursday Club

Share

The La Cañada Thursday Club is looking ahead to two special events this fall — its “Prosecco, Prosciutto, and Pasta” Casino Night on Oct. 28 and a community program, “What’s New Under the Sun: Advances in Skin Care,” set for Thursday, Nov. 3. Both take place at the clubhouse, 4440 Woodleigh Lane.

To commemorate the club’s 100th anniversary in 2012, the patio area was enlarged and a Centennial Garden created. Funds raised during the “Prosecco, Prosciutto, and Pasta” night will benefit the new garden.

“Italiano style is the theme, and the evening’s guests will be treated to authentic Italian food, sparkling champagne, gaming, a silent auction for early holiday shopping, raffle and musical serenade,” said Sheri Morton, event chair.

Attire for the Oct. 28 event is Italian chic or dressy casual. Tickets are $75 each. To make reservations, call Val Burgess at (818) 248-2669.

The skin care program on Nov. 3 takes place from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature Dr. Janice DaVolio, a member of the club who is a Pasadena dermatologist. She will cover topics ranging from sun protection and cancer prevention to cosmetic trends such as the use of Botox, dermal fillers and laser treatment.

After the program, guests are invited to enjoy tea in the club’s tearoom.

There is no charge to attend this event, but reservations are required by Oct. 27. Contact Jacquie Townsend at (626) 284-5140 or Sue Tutt at gstuttl@sbcglobal.net.
