Nominations are now being accepted for the 2012 Les Tupper Community Awards program.

Each year since 1969, the La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council has honored individuals, community groups, organizations and businesses that have given outstanding service and that have enhanced the quality of life in this community. A Student Service Award has been added to recognize the volunteer service and contributions of a high school junior or senior.

These community awards are named in honor of the late Les Tupper, a civic leader who cared deeply about education, youth and enhancing the quality of life here. Community members, business and professional groups, as well as schools and community organizations, may nominate an individual who exemplifies the qualities of Les Tupper. Nominees are individuals whose volunteer community service has inspired others and enriched our community’s quality of life.

Recipients of the Les Tupper Community Awards will be honored at a public ceremony on May 14 at von Karman Auditorium at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the co-host of the event.

Nominations must be received by March 15. Nomination forms with a list of past recipients and the criteria for the selection of nominees are available online at www.lcfcc.info, or by calling Carl Christensen at (818) 952-1518 or Sheree Butts at (818) 248-9661.

Nominations should be mailed to the La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council, Nominations Committee, P.O. Box 264, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91012-0264.
