Grand Prix added to Flintridge Horse Show

Flintridge La Cañada Guild of Huntington Hospital announced this week that the 91st annual Flintridge Horse Show, set for April 26 to 29, has added a $25,000 Grand Prix event.

After 90 years as a children’s horse show, the event will be modeled after other Class A horse shows to include adult events. The four-day show will feature new caterers and food vendors as well as gift, clothing and equestrian boutiques.

The Land Rover of Pasadena Grand Prix will be held during the Saturday night dinner event and will pit veteran riders against a challenging course of high jumps. The traditional Friday night Wine Tasting returns this year.

This year’s proceeds will go toward putting final touches to the new emergency ward at Huntington Hospital.

Entertainer to address club

Entertainer Ed Ames will be the guest speaker when the La Crescenta Valley Republican Women Federated holds a meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club.

Girl Scouts seek award nominations

The La Cañada Girl Scouts organization is seeking nominees for its “Outstanding Leader” or “Leader with the Heart” awards. The awards will be presented at the end of April, during a recognition dinner.

Nomination forms can be found online at lcfgirlscouts.net.

Water district marks 60th anniversary

Foothill Municipal Water District celebrated its 60th anniversary March 15 by hosting the LCF
Chamber of Commerce mixer, complete with a cake.

Nina Jazmadarian, general manager of the district, introduced the agency’s board members and accepted proclamations from state and local officials.

Guests were given reusable grocery bags containing a timer for saving water and information on how to conserve water.

The LCF Chamber is marking its centennial this year. A slide show highlighting businesses in the area was provided by John Torrey, and many area businesses contributed mixer prizes.
