The Bard of Avon is getting a makeover during this year’s La Cañada Flintridge Shakespeare Festival, which started Friday in the outdoor Byrnes Amphitheater on the campus of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy.

Los Angeles-based VanguardRep launched LCFShakes this year with “Juliet and Her Romeo,” a deconstruction and reconstruction of the classic drama.

The jinxed lovers will alternate weekends with “12th Night” an adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s best-known comedies. The first performance of “12th Night” is July 6. For more information, call (818) 745-3327 or visit lcfshakes.com.
