The death of a man found with gunshot wounds on Angeles Crest Highway early Wednesday is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

A group of motorists found the body on the side of the highway near mile marker 26.8 sometime around 1:13 a.m. The body appeared to be that of man between the ages of 20 and 30, according to a statement from Pasadena police.

While the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department initially responded to the call, the case was handed off to Pasadena police as that section of the highway is in the agency’s jurisdiction, according to the department.
