One of the signature spring events in the city, the 99th annual Flintridge Horse Show originally set for April 23 through 30 at the Flintridge Riding Club, has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

West Palm Events, which organizes the show, stated in a news release the cancellation “is in keeping with CDC recommendations to address the ongoing COVID-19 situation.”

All United States Equestrian Federation competitions have been suspended through May 3, according to the release.

The local horse show is hosted each year by Flintridge La Cañada Guild of Huntington Hospital as a fundraiser for the Pasadena institution.

The Flintridge Riding Club, established in 1923 and set on oak-studded acreage near the Jet Propulsion Laboratory has been temporarily closed due to the coronavirus.

A message on its website says, “On behalf of everyone at Flintridge Riding Club, our hearts go out to all those impacted by COVID-19. Our focus is, as always, on the health and safety of our employees, members and their horses. For this reason and by Orders of the Governor and L.A. county, we are closed until further notice. Let’s hope we will all be back in the saddle soon!”
