Her son had left his backpack on a bench in the locker room at his school’s gym before going to volleyball practice.

Burglary, commercial: 2200 block of Foothill Boulevard: A deputy from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a call to check on the vicinity and meet with someone from the Glendale Police Department. On arriving at the address, the deputy saw the front door of the business had been shattered and the burglar alarm siren was activated.

After calling for backup units, the deputy entered the business and spied a rock that had been used to smash the door, as well as a cash register on the floor near a rear counter. He also observed that a cash register drawer was missing from the store’s front counter.

The deputy spoke to a Glendale police officer who said he had recovered a cash register drawer near Ridge Drive and the Glendale (2) Freeway that contained documents and invoices of fundraiser transactions for Mountain Avenue Elementary School. The CV deputy spoke to the business owner, who said the cash till that had been recovered by Glendale police, as well as the one that had been in the register at the back of the store, had both contained currency that was now missing.
