City opens for business in new headquarters after bidding adieu to former LCF City Hall

Share

On Wednesday — nearly two years after closing escrow on the former Sport Chalet corporate headquarters — city employees opened for business in their new City Hall building at One Civic Center Drive in La Cañada’s Town Center.

Opening day followed a weekend move into the second-floor digs as staff emptied offices and bid farewell to their home of nearly four decades at 1327 Foothill Blvd. City Manager Mark Alexander confirmed Wednesday the transition was still a “work in progress,” as crews continued to build first-floor council chambers and a David A. Spence Memorial Community Room, named in honor of the late councilman.

An official dedication and ribbon cutting is scheduled for the March 19 meeting of the La Cañada Flintridge City Council, the first to be held in the new space. All regular and special council and commission meetings prior to that date will take place at La Cañada’s Lanterman Auditorium, 4491 Cornishon Ave.
