Panther Families Attend Picnic

Hundreds of Palm Crest Panther families came to the annual back to school family picnic Friday evening, carrying blankets, chairs and food, while some of the Panthers came with their razor scooters, wearing inline skates and carrying basketballs. Everyone agreed they were there to have a fun time.
“It is so exciting to welcome the families back and we are off to a great year for the Panthers. Just look at our turnout,” said Colleen Braun, one of the chairpersons for the event.
After checking in to get their food tickets for kabobs, hamburgers and hot dogs, fruit, salad, along with cookies, brownies and baklava for dessert, all catered by Continental Burger of Pasadena, the next stop for the Panthers was to the popular glow necklace table. Parents and students were wearing them.
Brianne Howey, a Sacred Heart student whose sister attends Palm Crest Elementary School, staffed the cotton candy table, which seemed to have an endless line.
PTA parents sold Panther T-shirts for those who were in a shopping mood.
After dinner, the Melody Makers and the Choristers entertained the families with a few favorite songs.
As the sun set, the field was a sea of families and the Panthers were glowing.
