Eight young women will make their bow to society at Oakmont Country Club on Saturday Nov. 27. The Bal Blanc is sponsored by The La Cañada Thursday Club.

The first debutante ball was held at Oakmont Country Club in 1951 with Dennis Morgan as emcee and presenter.

Merrily and Dell Hake will present the debutantes, who will be wearing the traditional white gowns. Debs being presented are Alexia Xiomara Ardolina, daughter of John Anthony Hales and Xiomara Ardolina; Julie Lynn Brock, daughter of Dean Brock and Anne Buettner; Dawn Michelle Darling, daughter of Scott and Marion Darling; Julie Elizabeth Tichon, daughter of Michael John and Cheryl Elizabeth Tichon; Kendra Lynn Mathison, daughter of Marshall and Karen Mathison; Claire Forest Oakes, daughter of Royal and Lauren Oakes; Cara Elizabeth McCarthy, daughter of John and Joan McCarthy; and Alicia Anna Seaford, daughter of Diane Louise Velasco and Michael Patrick Seaford.

“We are thrilled to be asked to be presenters of the debutantes, said Merrily Hake. “It brings back such happy memories when our own daughter, Jennie, was a debutante of The Thursday Club.”

Merrily has been an active member of The Cañada Thursday Club since 1991 and ball chair several times. Dell is a composer and orchestrator for theatrical, commercial and television projects. He has been involved in the music industry for 35 years.

Janice Hing, Sherry Kirchheimer and Carol Muller are the ball committee.

The Jack Lantz Orchestra will provide music during the reception, ceremony and dinner. Later guests will dance to music provided by a deejay from Better Music Services. Bob Bronson Photography will capture the event in pictures and Paul Howard will record the evening on DVD. Lori Jacobs of Fine Floral will provide the flower arrangements and debutante bouquets.
