McGroarty Art Center Holds Annual Open House, Art Sale

The annual McGroarty Art Center Holiday Open House and Art Sale will be hold at the McGroarty Art Center, 7570 McGroarty Terrace in Tujunga, on Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Gift items tor sale will include a variety of handcrafted works such as ceramics, jewlery, artwork, cards, Christmas decorations and handpainted folk art.

Entertainment will be provided by harpist Angela Knowlton and piano and violin students and the children’s chorale.

A bake sale to raise funds for the McGroarty Arts Center will continue throughout the day. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods can deliver them to the center on either Dec. 10 after noon or on Dec. 11 at 10 a.m.

The McGroarty Arts Center is a historical monument, once the home of John Steven McGroarty, poet, historian, U.S. Congressman, dramatist and journalist. Throughout the year, this unique facility is a site where students of all ages learn fine arts such as oil painting, ceramics, music, dance, drama , sculpture and Tai Chi Ch’uan.

This McGroarty Art Center Holiday Open House and Art Sale is sponsored by the Friends of McGroarty. The McGroarty Arts Center is in partnership with the Cultural Affairs Department of the City of Los Angeles. For information, call the center at 352-5285.
