  • ‘Black Tie & Boots: A Texas-sized fund-raiser
  • for LCF schools’ set for Saturday, March 26

Get out your best Stetson hat, shine up those Tony Lima boots and get ready for the upcoming “Black Tie and Boots: A Texas-Sized Fundraiser for our Schools” at the LCF Educational Foundation’s annual gala on Saturday, March 26, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

Elizabeth Fitzpatrick and Lisa Singelyn, co-chairs for the event say it will be sizzlin’ with the flavors of the West. The event is expected to rope in more than 700 school supporters and $350,000 in Texas-size proceeds for the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation.

The party begins at 6 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner, a live auction and dancing to music by local band Palm Drive.

“Our benefit committee is beyond fantastic,” Fitzpatrick said. “I think this is going to be awesome event, and a wonderful way to continue the excellence of our schools.”

The evening also will honor the LCF Educational Foundation’s 2004-2005 Spirit of Outstanding Service Award recipients, Cayce and Don Sheppard.

“We hope to raise funds as huge as Texas. The evening will not only be fun but it is a way to support our children and our schools,” said Singelyn. “This is the perfect opportunity to support the Educational Foundation, with all the money spent counting toward your family’s annual LCFEF contribution. Where else do you get credit for a going to fantastic party and winning such incredible auction items?”

Everyone will have the chance to strike it rich at the gala. By purchasing “Yellow Rose of Texas” boutonnieres, one lucky cowgirl will walk away with a gorgeous diamond tennis bracelet. In the spirit of the rugged West, the annual car raffle will be for a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. The winner doesn’t need to be present and can select $10,000 in cash instead. Like last year, only 750 raffle tickets will be sold. Nine finalist tickets will be chosen from the spinner, then the 10th finalist ticket will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Both the silent and live auctions are loaded with tempting trips and one-of-a-kind opportunities that even J.R. Ewing would have a tough time passing up. And, a few lucky bidders may rustle up some bargains that take a good eye but not a fortune. Some highlights of the live auction: Wine connoisseurs will be salivating over the three-bottle set of the 1998 Screaming Eagle cabernet sauvignon. This is one of the world’s most sought-after wines, with a “cult” like following. Scream-ing Eagle is only available through auction.

Would you want to give up smaller class sizes? Give up guidance and college counseling? Or give up art, music and drama in the elementary schools? There are more than 350,000 reasons why we all owe Lisa, Elizabeth and their committee a giant debt of gratitude!”
