Harvey L. Price, chief Boy Scout executive from 1976-79, a professional Boy Scout leader for more than 40 years and executive officer in the Fletcher ones and Weingart foundations for 20 years, died on March 26, 2005.
Born October 5, 1914 in Fort Wayne, Ind., he had been a resident of La Cañada Flintridge for 33 years and during that time had been active in the La Cañada United Methodist Church and on the board of Descanso Gardens.
Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Swisher Price. They were married 63 years.
His loving family consists of Gretchen Watson; his son, Harvey Price, Jr. of Desert Hot Springs; his daughter, Kathy Crain of Pasadena; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers.
Harvey was dedicated to the nurturing, development and maturing of the youth of America. He inspired and led coworkers, employees, volunteers and countless young men and women over the years and they, in turn, from his inspiration and example, have extended his legacy into the country’s future.
The family has requested any donations be given to either Descanso Gardens, the Boy Scouts of America, or the American Heart Association.
Graveside services and memorial services were held at Forest Lawn-Glendale on April 1, 2005.
