7/8 Students of the Month Recognized at Ceremony

Seventh and eighth grade students were honored last Thursday by La Cañada High School staff, parents and peers.
Each month between October and June students of the month are selected by the teachers from each of the seven/eight schools for showing respect, taking the initiative to help someone else, having a positive attitude toward learning, classroom participation, diligent effort, as well as good grades.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for me to once again express my appreciation for the efforts of these particular students,” said Cynthia Keech, principal, who welcomed everyone.
Teacher Susan Skalla, introduced the Associated Student Body officers and recognized them for all work and dedication.
The character of the students of the month make us proud to teach at LCHS,” Skalla said.
October’s seventh grade students of the month were Bernard Kim, Willem Swart, Gabrielle Badie, Meg Koerber, Askash Shah, Jeff Facer, Jonathan Sparks, Young Yi and Megan Nathan. The eighth grade students of the month were Joanna Burlison, Lusi Carresquero, Roberto Casotto, Peyton Collins, Maddy Lane, Chris Butler, Deedee Mann, Suzanne Stathatos and Matt van Slooten.
For the month of November, the seventh grade students of the month were John Gregg, Caroline Heer, Lance Frame, Meredith Horner, Riley Kessler, Paul Lou, Caitlin Davidson, Claire Irvine and Alex Rosen. The eighth grade students of the month were Danielle Greig, Ben Kellogg, Rebecca Lendvai, Riley Meehan, Ryan Zomorodi, Annie Bonaccorso, Alex Levin Ryan Lee and Jordan Listo.
For December, the seventh grade students of the month were Amanda Borland, Jamie Pierce, Jeff Lewis, Chanel Fu, Lynn Benjauthrit, Sarena Lu, Michelle Burrows and Silas Hughes. For the eighth grade they were Allegra Batista, Andrew Cerrina, Michael Gooch, Sara Keys, Shannon Streeter, Connie Suh, Jordan Del Guercio, Lucy Filippone, Emily Jackson and John Jackson.
January’s seventh grade students of the month were Zoe McWaters, Laurel Fuller, Brendan Zwaneveld, Ragini Sahai, Kate VanAmringe, Melissa Pittson, Sam Charlton and Julia Burrows. Kira Bartholomew, Taylor Chan, Jinan Harb, Carolyn Miller, Taylor Segal, Ruth Barber, AJ Blumenfeld, Collin Chersi and Denise Lee were the eighth graders.
February’s seventh grade students of the month were Riley Kessler, Kyle Gosselin, Jennifer Seo, Bianca Saleebyan, Trent Jones, Elizabeth Koleong and Aayush Shah. The eighth graders were Kaitlin Fuelling, Annelise Thompson, Marisa Dodge, Olivia Tucker, Garrett Gray, Garrett Steffen, Anna Applebaum, Gabrielle Lyng, Andrew Salmi and James Park.
Michelle Littlefield, Janelle Fong, Tim Kim, Keith Uyemura, Ryan Kaul, Grayson Frazier, Mallone Sheppard, Brooke Williams and Alicia Kim were the March seventh grade students of the month. The eighth graders were Lindsey Doyle, Lauren Gokey, Danny Gordon, Kevin Kraft, Pauline Park, Anthony Greco, Amy Johanson, Matt King and Vanessa Zuk.
The seventh grade students of the month for April were Megan Martin, Anton Arboleda, Mary Jo Scott, Ling Rao, Ann Lim, Kelly Eisenbrand, Zoe Kumagai, Christina Zdawczyk and Kate Cullen. The eighth graders were Joanne Chong, Molly Scott, Eric Praske, Jocelyn Harris, AJ Kim, Eric Smith, Tommy Woods, Sara Williams and Ellen Park.
For the month of May, Mary Young, Cody Seltaer, Chris LeBelle, Jake Borlund, Markie Dietel, Cole Kendal, Shannon Denney, Eviane Leidig, Tia Chen, Andrew Bentz and Nicole Morrison were the seventh grade students of the month. For the eighth grader, they were Charlie Davidson, Minji Kim, Helia Ansari, Lauren Curtis, Rebecca King and Kevin Nelson.
For June, the final month of school, they were Krysti Teng, Alex Antonoplis, Rachel Ragusa, Michael Bennett, Brent Johnson, Mackenzie Hunt, Chantal Fisher-Avakian, Kelsey Walker, Jennifer Lee, Alice Hall-Partyka, Russell Smith and Kai Tang. The eighth graders were Cristian Lee, Abby Ulf, Amy Ulf, Lizy Saxe, Rachel Connelly and Sarah Williams.
“I was excited last year when I received a student of the month, and I am even more excited this year,” said Minji Kim, an eighth grader.
After the students received their certificates, they enjoyed a reception with their parents and fellow students.
“I am impressed with the many great kids from our junior high,” said Tina Jackson, who was proud to see her eighth grade son, John, be a student of the month recipient.
