The World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA) has announced the formation of two new divisions of play in Southern California to meet the growing demand caused by new players.

As the flagship Hollywood Division heads for the playoffs after its fourth season of play, registration has opened for the Studio (covering North Hollywood and the Valley) Division.

The new division will have pickup games for people interested in learning about adult kickball in advance of the inaugural season.

The Hollywood Division will also have pickup games for new and returning players before the start of its fall season this month.

WAKA leagues are coed and they are social leagues. Players are encouraged to visit the league’s Sponsor Bars for post-game food and drinks, and there are several social events throughout the season.

The Hollywood Division bar is Big Wangs, located at 1562 N. Cahuenga Blvd.; Division. A location for the Studio Division has not been determined.

The league runs the gamut of athletic abilities, from former college jocks to people who never touched a kickball before.

The Studio Division is located at the North Hollywood Recreation Center, 11430 Chandler Blvd.
