Candlelight Carols, Mozart Featured in Friends of Music's '05/'06 Season

The Friends of Music at Pasadena Presbyterian Church presents its programming for the 2005-2006 concert season.

This long-standing arts initiative includes a series of major evening concerts presented by the church’s musicians and visiting artists, as well as weekly Music at Noon concerts which present performers from across Los Angeles and around the world in 30-minute concerts each Wednesday.

Admission is to all events is free. A voluntary offering will be received.

Pasadena Presbyterian Church is at 585 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena.

In the evenings and on weekends, free parking is available in lots adjacent to the church building.

Music at Noon

12:10 to 12:40 p.m.

Thirty minutes of exquisite music presented by performers from across Los Angeles and around the world. Lunch follows each concert for a $6 donation.

Oct. 1

Organist Yoon-Mi Lim

7:30 p.m.

Yoon-Mi Lim is the winner of the Arnerican Guild of Organists’ 2004 National Young Artists Competition in organ performance. Part of the competition prize is two years of concert touring. Don’t miss this emerging artist’s only Los Angeles-area appearance.

Candlelight & Carols:

60th Anniversary Edition

It began in 1945. Six decades later it is a Pasadena tradition. This year’s Christmas concert will again feature all the Pasadena Presbyterian Church ensembles as we look back in celebration - and forward to claim the new birth of the Christmas season.

Organist Elizabeth Lenti

7:30 p.m.

Elizabeth Lenti has performed around the world, including at the Göteborg International Organ Academy and the Oundle International Festival. Last summer, she was appointed associate organist/choirmaster at All Saints Church in Pasadena.

Come experience this phenomenal new local artist in concert at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.

In the days before John Williams’ soundtracks, motion pictures were accompanied by imaginative artists at the organ. Come experience this improvisational art with vintage films appropriate to the first weekend in Lent.

The Kirk Choir, the Claremont Chorale and the Friends of Music Orchestra combine to present one of choral music’s most beloved works on the occasion of Mozart’s 250 birthday year.

June 10

Organist Robert Plimpton

7:30 p.m.

Widely respected for his exciting recitals, Plimpton has performed in major venues internationally. He is resident organist of First United Methodist Church of San Diego and is that city’s civic organist emeritus.
