One Foot in Reality, the Other in Fantasy

Anomaly art gallery and piercing studio presents “I Know You’re Sorry, Now Apologize” a joint exhibit showcasing the paintings of L.A.-based artists Tyler Floren and Ruinsoncemore.

This show will feature four new paintings by each artist as well as a few of their older favorites.

Ruinsoncemore is a self-taught artist residing in Pasadena. He draws upon his many travels through America and his East Coast upbringing to express a surrealistic sentiment. His use of pop icons and technically decomposed backdrops serve as a critique of our modern society while simultaneously allowing the viewer to see a new world through his skewed vision.

Each of his pieces in this show address the complexity of human communication and the basic fundamental need to nurture said communication.

Having shown in several group shows around Southern California, including “State of the Art” at Progressive Space Gallery last January, Ruinsoncemore is quickly becoming a hot commodity in the active art scene.

Floren is an up and coming artist from La Crescenta. Currently working on his bachelor of fine arts degree at Azusa Pacific University, he has been interested and immersed in art all his life. His paintings deal with the decay of family, both in the physical and metaphysical. Teetering on the brink of being macabre while still maintaining grace, quite similar to a Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, his work is mysterious and intriguing yet blunt and blatant at the same time.

“I Know You’re Sorry, Now Apologize” runs until Sept. 16. A reception for the artists will be held Aug. 19 from 9 p.m. to midnight at Anamoly, 1039 E. Green St. For more information, call Brett Perkins at 626-793-8930.
