Pasadena City College Music to Hold Piano Auditions

The Pasadena City College Music Department is holding auditions for individual piano instruction on Friday, August 26.

Pianists playing at the college level who intend to be advanced piano performance majors or music majors using piano as their principal instrument are encouraged to audition.

The PCC piano program is a prestigious training program drawing students from throughout Southern California and several countries. Students of the program have transferred to the University of Texas, Austin, McGill University, Montreal, San Francisco Conservatory and the University of Southern California and have won prizes at competitions including the prestigious University of the Pacific Piano Competition and the Performing Arts Foundation for Asian-Americans.

In addition to private instruction, the piano department regularly hosts master classes taught by internationally recognized artists and teachers.

Previous pianists have included James, Ruth Tomfohrde, and an extended residency with Ann Schein from Peabody Conservatory and the Aspen Music Festival. Jerome Lowenthal from the Juilliard School has been named Artist in Residence for the spring of 2006.
