Teaming up for Dollars for Scholarships

Share

The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge teamed with senior volunteers of the Assistance League of Flintridge to complete the mailings for the annual Dollars for Scholarships campaign. About 30 senior volunteers made quick work of stuffing the envelopes for delivery to mailboxes. The Community Scholarship Foundation is asking for community support for its 2005-06 Dollars for Scholarships campaign.

Dollars for Scholarships is the most important fund-raising endeavor of the Community Scholarship Foundation of LCF, and support from the community is critical. Every dollar raised goes directly into the Foundation’s scholarship fund. Since its founding more than 40 years ago, the Foundation has awarded more than $600,000 to local students deserving of assistance. Scholarships are awarded to La Cañada Flintridge scholars on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, faculty references and personal character. Last year, $19,500 in scholarships went to 13 outstanding students, either college bound or already attending college. One of last year’s recipients, Irene Dokko, wrote, “I know neither your face nor your name, but I am supported by your helping hand.”

The Community Scholarship Foundation solicits financial donations for the scholarship fund during the Dollars for Scholarships campaign, but contributions are accepted at any time. If you would like to make a donation, you may send a check to the Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge, P.O. Box 111, La Cañada Flintridge, Calif. 91012. All donations are tax deductible, as the Foundation is nonprofit.

“Partnership and teamwork work with the community are what makes this annual campaign successful. Only through the generosity of our community are we able to achieve our mission. We are so proud to be able to help a number of outstanding, local students, who may not otherwise, have the chance to make their academic dreams come true,” said Julie Scholler, Foundation president.
