Glendale Knights Win SGV Fall Championship

The 12 and Under Glendale Knights won the San Gabriel Valley Soto Gloves Fall Championship in Hacienda Heights over the Thanksgiving weekend and earned an early holiday gift.

The Knights scored a 10-2 mercy win over the Claremont Crush to capture the title. Each player on the championship team received a free baseball glove.

Andre Real hit a pair of home runs and pitched four standout innings. Troy Prasertsit hit a three-run homer. Kenny Mathews and Bryce Mosier scored two runs each.

The Knights’ dominant weekend began on Nov.26 in pool play. They creamed the Crush, 11-5, behind Elliot Surrey’s three-run homer. Daniel Swick doubled to spark a five-run outburst in the third inning. Connor Ash and Cody Nulph scored a pair of runs each.

The Knights next received a 8-0 mercy victory over the So Cal Yankees (Arcadia). Pitchers Nate Rousey, Surrey and Praserit combined on a one-hitter. Brandon Shirley went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

On Nov. 27 in the semifinal, the Knights got a 15-0 mercy win over the Southgate Stars. Pitcher Jay Cordero and Surrey teamed up on another one-hitter. Real and Mathews hit home runs. Brandon Van Horn scored twice in an 11-run, first inning explosion.

The Knights got mercy victories from three of the four teams they faced. They have played for the championship in five consecutive tournaments and have won three of them.
